Frequently Asked Questions

What is Paulding Virtual Academy?
Paulding Virtual Academy (PVA) is an online learning program offered by the Paulding County School District to provide flexible, technology-driven education for students with diverse learning needs.
Why did PCSD create PVA?
PCSD recognizes the evolving educational landscape and the growing role of technology in instruction. PVA serves students with varied learning styles, including those seeking accelerated learning, dual enrollment, or a smaller learning environment.
Will PVA have certified teachers?
Yes. All PVA teachers are state-certified, veteran educators employed by PCSD. They have demonstrated excellence in online instruction and hold additional endorsements in virtual teaching and exceptional student education.
How do parents enroll their student(s)?
Complete online enrollment through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal during the registration window.
Can homeschool students join PVA?
Yes, but they must register as PCSD students. They will remain affiliated with their districted school for extracurricular activities. Students enrolling after the registration window must apply for hardship consideration.
Does PVA support dual enrollment?
Absolutely. Dual enrollment is a key component of PVA, and students are strongly encouraged to participate.
Can students join activities at their home school?
Yes. PVA students are full members of their districted school and may participate in clubs, sports, proms, and special events. Athletic eligibility remains tied to the student’s original districted school.
What technology is required?
Laptop or desktop preferred; tablets and smartphones are acceptable but less efficient. Reliable internet access is required.
What is the daily schedule?
Schedules mirror traditional school blocks (1st–4th). Students on pace and passing are encouraged—but not required—to attend live sessions. Students failing a course must attend live lessons. All students must submit at least one assignment daily in Canvas to avoid being marked absent.
Can students with IEPs enroll?
Yes. PVA accepts students with disabilities. Special education services will be adapted for the online environment. Contact PCSD Student Services at 770-443-8030 or studentservices@paulding.k12.ga.us before registering.
